Principles and Methods of Epidemiology. While many of us already got to know each other a bit in the class, it’s important that we continue to gain a sense of who we all are and why we’re here. It helps us to better know your interest in epidemiology, previous experiences, public health interests, and how to best serve you. Also, it’s a great opportunity to learn about your classmates, many of whom I’m sure you will become familiar with as you take more classes.

THE ANSWER
Hi everyone,
My name is *** and I use they/them pronouns. I am currently undecided on my concentration, but I am interested in both biostatistics and environmental health. I am interested in these concentrations because I am passionate about using data to improve public health. I believe that epidemiology is a powerful tool that can be used to understand the causes of disease and develop interventions to prevent them.
After completing my program, I plan to work in public health research. I am interested in conducting research on the environmental determinants of health, such as air pollution and climate change. I also want to work on developing interventions to prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.
I think epidemiology (and this course) will be an essential part of my training in public health. Epidemiology will teach me how to collect and analyze data, and how to use this data to understand the causes of disease. This knowledge will be essential for my work in public health research.
I have not done any work in public health or related fields, but I am eager to get started. I am a hard worker and I am always willing to learn new things. I am confident that I will be a valuable asset to any team.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my family and friends. I am also a big fan of science fiction and fantasy books and movies.
I am excited to be a part of this program and to learn more about epidemiology. I look forward to meeting all of you and working together to improve public health.
Thanks,
****
