The value that accreditation brings to an organization Accreditation is globally recognized independent oversight of performance standards and trust. Numerous governments and corporations around the world employ it, and many have sought accreditation from internationally renowned certifying bodies. Accreditation confirms the competence of a company. There is sufficient data to support the idea that there are numerous potential benefits to complying with accreditation criteria for improving hospital performance. The implementation of hospital accreditation systems increases performance improvement and patient safety despite equivocal evidence of causality. General accreditation programs improve hospitals and the treatment process, while accreditation programs enhance clinical outcomes.(National Academies of Sciences et al., 2016)
The Quality Assurance Program (QAP) experiment provided the most accurate assessment on this topic. This trial’s randomization considered major factors that influence a hospital’s ability to comply with and acquire accreditation standards, such as hospital size, staffing levels, personnel certifications, and budgetary constraints. For businesses with multiple sites, official accreditation can ensure that each location complies to the same stringent requirements. Accreditation promotes marketability, facilitates the acquisition of finance, boosts employee satisfaction, and holds the team accountable for attaining its objectives. In addition, strong data suggests that specialist accreditation programs increase therapeutic outcomes. Promoting accreditation programs will improve the quality of healthcare services.(Hussein et al., 2021)
Steps and processes over a one-year period in preparation
I will devote one year to initiating the change’s planning. At this stage, a hospital must develop plans for significant structural and operational changes. Accreditation-seeking organizations view these organizational reforms as a major priority. Changes will be made to infrastructure, documentation, and staff culture, among other things. However, we are aware that implementing the anticipated improvements is more difficult and often meets with employee opposition. Time restrictions, an employee shortage, a hefty workload, and employee stress will feed this antagonism. We begin the change and have generally positive things to say about the following aspects of it: (1) what prompted us to make the move, (2) how we intend to implement the necessary improvements to attain accreditation, and (3) how we dealt with patient issues.(O’Connor & Wolff, 2018)
In addition, there are some essential processes involved in becoming an approved institution Conducting a comprehensive self-assessment of the organization’s policies, techniques, and systems in relation to the accrediting requirements, submitting a preliminary application. The candidate must be confident in his or her ability to meet all accreditation requirements and submit all application documents. The accrediting authority will conduct a desk-based review of the
application’s documentation to see if it satisfies the regulations and accreditation criteria. The lead assessor of the accrediting authority will conduct a pre-assessment meeting on-site with the applicant’s authorized representatives. The candidate will undergo a comprehensive on-site evaluation by the accreditation authority. Examine the application to confirm that the lead assessor and assessment team’s accreditation approach is objective and suitable for accreditation grant. Evaluation on-site within six months after the initial inspection.(National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine et al., 2016)
key personnel and the risk prevention procedures, as well as the performance and quality improvement plan
To have an effective performance and quality improvement plan. I would make sure to fix some problems related to some significant area. Those area include infrastructures, like building new rooms and emergency exits; moving services like pharmacy or radiology to meet accreditation standards; new technological resources related to human resources, like electronic medical records and automated drug dispensing systems; and new hospital processes for giving safe care, like the World Health Organization. Revisions to medical records are an example of a change that takes time but is worth it. All processes must be carefully written down and kept track of as part of the accreditation process. This will be made stronger by the JCI accreditation procedure and a quality improvement plan that should be reflected directly in the documentation.(McGowan et al., 2022)
