This event inspired a patient education documentary featuring the Quaid family’s personal ordeal, along with stories of other families who faced medical errors. Each story opens with a challenge and then tells how caregivers overcome such challenges with practices that everyone can adopt. Each year, medical mistakes kill nearly 100,000 people.
Do not only include personal opinion – utilize EBP text or resources to defend your answers. Grade will be reduced when providing personal comments and reflections without data-driven sources.
After watching the documentary, answer the following questions:
1. Describe and analyze the objective of this documentary.
2. Evaluate measures that would prevent medication errors, suggested in this documentary and for future nursing practice.
3. Organize the steps nurses take to prevent med errors.
4. Judge the effects and aftermath, following a critical medication error (fatal or not); for the patient/family/nurses and the health care facility.
