SWK 132 – Assignment # 3: Final Paper
Step 1 : Identify the human rights and social justice issue you are interested in. You’ll need to conduct some research – and if you need some ideas, you can always visit the Human Rights Watch website: https://www.hrw.org/#
Step 2 : Research your topic in more depth – for example, as well as finding out about the human rights issue itself – you might also want to research which organizations are working to raise awareness of the issue.
So, for example – using Environmental Justice as an example, Think through the followings for ideas,
1. Why access to safe and clean water is a human right
2. The problem: examples of situations – local and global – where people don’t have access to safe and clean water
3. Organizations working to raise awareness of safe and clean water as a human right for all
After you settle on a topic, please consult with me for approval, you final paper should be 6 – 8 pages long and it should cover the following:
What are the issues?
Why does this area remain of importance to human rights?
What are the major concerns regarding human rights issues?
What is being done about the issues, and by whom?
Are there local and international actors trying to change the situation, if so who and what do they do?
Please organize your paper by having: 1) introduction where you explain what the paper is about, 2) body: here you can use subtitles to discuss the issues raised above, 3) conclusion, here you summarize. Include your own perspective on the topic in your summary. In your paper, incorporate two sources and use APA style.
