This assignment is designed to allow students to start thinking critically about their own moral and ethical beliefs about the world. It will also hopefully be a reminder of where everyone began as they started the semester and how much growth came from these early thoughts.In this essay, students will document their initial thoughts about what it means to be an ethical person. This is a purposefully open-ended assignment, as students could consider what makes an action right or wrong, what makes a person good or bad, and/or how we go about assessing moral justice and injustice. As it were, this assignment is about taking one’s ‘moral temperature’ to see in what directions it might be most fruitful to develop ones work throughout the semester.Formally, this assignment only needs to be between 400-500 words. If any external sources are referenced, students ought to use MLA citation both for their textual citations as well as works cited. Draw upon any resources that will help provide your account of ethics and morality. Films, literature, allegories from growing up – these are the ways that most people learn right from wrong, so there is no specific form of support which would be inappropriate in justifying your perspective.
