Depression is the most common of all psychological disorders. Therefore, it is well worth one’s time to study it, and seek to understand it. This study can help the individual personally, and can also empower someone to help another person that may be suffering from Depression. A natural outline for studying any psychological disorder is:

To begin your study, go to “DSM Notes – Depressive Disorders” inside this module (Module 2-A: Depressive Disorders – For the week of 2/6 – 2/12).
The DSM-V lists the symptoms of psychological disorders, but does not list the potential causes and treatments. This is because the purpose of the DSM-V is to facilitate the diagnoses of disorders. The DSM-V does not list the causes or treatments because those are very individualized and vary greatly from person to person. For the first part of this assignment, list the symptoms of Depression. You do not need to list all of the symptoms, or copy and paste anything here, just summarize the primary characteristics of Depression in 2 to 4 full paragraphs. For the second part of your assignment, write 2 to 4 paragraphs on some of the common causes of Depression. This information will not be in the DSM. You will need to do independent research on Depression and the potential causes of it in this section of the assignment. For the third part of your assignment, write 2 to 4 paragraphs on ways in which Depression can be effectively treated. This information will not be in the DSM. You will need to do independent research on Depression and the potential causes of it in this section of the assignment.
