About me: I am a first-generation Undergraduate Student at UC Irvine. I am a US citizen as I was born in the US and can speak fluent English and Mandarin. I have basic Spanish speaking skills. I love listening to Kpop (BTS mainly) music, I learned ballet, I love playing the violin, I love/am very interested in Korean skincare, and I enjoy watching Chinese and Korean dramas. In addition, I love my Chinese culture origins and I am not afraid to share my culture when asked. I was bullied very seriously in elementary school, which resulted in my parents transferring me for safety and to not develop serious depression. My parents came from China to the United States before I was born (I am an only child). They both came to the United States when the economy was very bad and it was very hard to survive when they didn’t have any money. In middle school (7th-8th grade), my grandma had open-heart surgery and survived. In high school (10-11th grade), my mother had an oophorectomy surgery due to a non-cancerous tumor and survived. In my undergraduate (2nd – 3rd year), my grandma had cancer and unfortunately died after a month from surgery. I hope to attain my goal of being a Registered Nurse (RN) certified in California. After, I hope to continue my nursing journey to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists certified in California. *Personally, it is also good to infer and/or directly express/show to the admission reads on:
Why be a nurse? What motivated you to be a nurse? What is keeping you excited to become and be a nurse?
Show a touching/impressionable story on the accumulation of experiences of reassurance of
becoming a nurse.
It is best to avoid common storytelling such as wanting to help/care for people, I am a
compassionate person, healthcare (nursing) is a stable occupation that earns lots of money, etc.
