A goal is a broad statement of a program purpose, while an objective describes results to be achieved and the way the results will be achieved. Why do you think it is important for public health programs to have SMART objectives?
Think of a health goal you are currently working on or one you have completed and describe it. Were you able to accomplish the goal? If not, do you think applying the SMART method to writing objectives would have assisted you in achieving that goal? If you did accomplish your goal, would applying SMART objectives have made it easier to accomplish? Why or why not? Select the same goal (if you were not able to accomplish it) or a different goal that you would like to achieve and write two SMART objectives for it.
